AVERAGE
Overview
Average a field (for example, average age).
Creating an AVERAGE formula
To create an AVERAGE formula:
- With a chart open, select the DOCUMENT RIBBON
- Click on the Fields button

- Click on Add formula button

- Select the AVERAGE menu item
- Select the field to AVERAGE (e.g Age)
- Select the Range using the Range drop-down menu (See range definitions below)
- Click OK
- Rename the formula (e.g. Average_Age)
- Click OK to complete the rename function
- Click OK (green button at the top)
Range Options
When creating an AVERAGE calculation, you can specify the range to include in the calculation.
The following range options are available:
- Self + Subordinates - Checks current box and all subordinates (direct and indirect)
- Subordinates - Checks all subordinates (directs and indirect)
- Self + Direct Reports - Check current box and only direct reports
- Direct Reports - Checks only direct reports
AVERAGE Example
The Average Age show below is an example of an AVERAGE formula (range is Self+Subordinates).
