Chart Settings

Chart settings is the home to most of the configuration you can do with your Viewer and Chart Builder experience.

Overview

Chart Settings allows you to configure the details of your Enterprise or Premium Chart. These charts are stored in our database and are automatically refreshed nightly to keep your data up to date. If you have multiple different charts, the chart picker at the top allows you to switch the chart you're configuring. The settings picker allows you to configure any settings you need.

Data Source

Configure the data that builds your chart:

  • Main Data Source - Select the main source of data for this chart. You can import your CSV or Excel data, or use your HRIS like ADP, Workday, and many others.
  • Append Data - Add in additional data from a flat file, or through additional Workday, Ultipro, or ADP recruitment modules,
  • Merge Data - Update records in your data from a flat file.
  • Filter Data - Remove records during import so they never enter your chart. This is different than dynamic filters, which can be applied by the user.
  • Email Notification - Add your email to be notified when your chart's refresh fails. You may check the option to also be notified on successful refresh.

Presentation

Configure the look and feel of your chart:

  • Views - Add, remove, and shuffle the list of views you see in the Options -> Views section. Star a view to set it as the default view.
  • Background - Set the background of your chart from the available master pages in your Masters folder. If your master page is rule driven, keep this setting at 'None' to let the views drive the background.
  • Sort - Sort the boxes on screen based off name, title or any other criteria.

Chart Builder

Configure the Chart Builder:

  • Search Keys - Define the options you see in the Chart Builder to search on. Clicking the '…' icon will enable a picker for this item.
  • Templates - Set the list of Views that can be selected in the Chart Builder. Leaving this section empty will default to the Views you had defined in the presentation section.
  • Masters - Select the list of backgrounds available using the Chart Builder. Leave this section empty if you use rule-driven templates to define your master page.
  • Dynamic Formulas - Define the dynamic formulas used by your chart. While they will show up in box styles in Viewer, they will be accurate only to the available data loaded onscreen, so they have the most utility using them as planning & modeling formulas with the Chart Builder.

Profile

Configure the Profile shown in Viewer. Shuffle rows, add rows, and delete them.

Mapping

Map the fields in your data source to the reserved parameters used by OrgChart Now. You can also specify fields in your data to function as email links, skype links, or phone numbers. Right click on a link or phone number to open it up in your email program or skype.

Photo

Configure the way OCN loads your company photos. For many connectors (like ADP or flat file import) this configuration is done automatically.

Fields & Formulas

Change the labels of the fields and formulas used by OCN. Set the field type and formatting options, including number decimal places, pre/post fixes, date formats, and more.

Filters & Highlights

Add, remove, and shuffle dynamic filters you can use while working with your OrgChart.

COMING SOON: Dynamic Highlights to color groups of boxes with similar properties.

Security

Set the settings of each access group's permissions to interact with this chart. You may hide certain views from being accessible, disable or enable chart access completely, or enable branch level security to restrict employees to their own section.

Checkpoints

Save and load configuration checkpoints with all of your chart data saved. They are automatically date-stamped and saved to your local machine.

General

  • Set Default - Set this chart to automatically come up first when in a multi-chart environment.
  • Rename - Change the name of the chart as it appears in the chart dropdown picker.
  • Delete - Delete the chart from your Org. You recover deleted charts that were included in previous checkpoint.
  • Set Top Box - Specify the top box in your data. Specifying the top box can help OCN determine the proper order if you have a circular position structure.
  • Point in Time Charts - COMING SOON! Activate Point in Time charts to save snapshots of your data at a certain time. Load up old charts and export them when you need.
  • Refresh Options - COMING SOON! Set the frequency, notifications, and configuration to your refresh scheduler. Currently, OCN will refresh the data nightly with on-demand refreshes as needed from the More menu.
